The Centre For Print Research (CFPR) launched its Cabinet of Curiosities at this year’s Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair. The bespoke wooden cabinet showcases a range of original prints made using cutting edge techniques, from a wearable book and an unfolding almanac to etchings of mycelial growth from the most recent Artist in Residence programme. Whilst at the fair Tracy Hill and Chuck Elliott joined Carinna Parraman, Laura Clarke Oaten and Michael White from CFPR for an informal discussion about their experience of working collaboratively with the Centre.

My practice explores ideas that are centred on looking at the body as an archive of trauma, displacement, identity, and how they are stored in our bodies. I'm really interested in finding alternative ways of communication through gestures, the body, and movement. I'm interested in archiving those types of language, such as how to communicate a traumatic experience? How does the body store that? For me, it's about actively using the body to communicate these experiences and memories.

Natasha Michaels is an artist living and working in London. In 2022, she was awarded the Ushaw Residency & Acquisition Prize at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair. Her artwork is held in private and public collections. Over the years, her illustration has been commissioned by the likes of Penguin Books, Vintage, Random House, The Guardian, and Blue Source
