Edition of 2

Lesley O'Neill's work likes to explore the humour in dark places using hand made dolls to tell a story. She makes a doll, a character from life, it poses for her as she draws directly onto the prepared wood. Using a combination of Wood Lithography and traditional Woodcutting to show the sensitivity of the drawn line coupled with the aggressive cutting and gouging of the surface as her process of choice. O'Neill's recent series of work is a natural progression from her work on Childhood Memories. Here we have moved on in time and she is introducing The Artist and The Artist's Model, relationship yet to be determined. O'Neill graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art in 1991 with a HDFA in Printmaking. After taking some time out she returned to her work in 2020 and has exhibited widely including WCPF, Open to Print at Bankside and The Mall Galleries amongst others. She was also selected for The Flourish Excellence in Printmaking Award touring exhibition, 2022 and was one of the final five for the On The Spectrum Art Award 2022. Sadly the award had to close before a decision was made. She has work in private collections.
