Marina's work delves into the captivating allure of urban environments. Through the medium of /cyanotype, she transforms her analog photographs, featuring travel series, brutalist buildings, and industrial architecture, into captivating works of art. These towering structures become architectural beacons that she seeks out when traveling or exploring new surroundings. Blue holds a special place in Marina's life, transcending its association with sadness and revealing its true nature as a source of happiness. It represents the endless expanse of the sea and the vastness of the sky of her homeland and early years. It embodies freedom and serves as her primary mode of artistic expression. By juxtaposing the calmness of blue tones with the raw brutality of the environments she explores, she creates a striking collision that embodies the essence of ambiguity and duality within oneself. Here Marina presents a curated selection from her travels. As an emerging artist, she seeks to share her /cyanotypes with a wider audience, allowing her art to resonate with people just as her personal journeys have touched her. Marina's artistic practice revolves around analog photography to capture the essence of her subjects. The negatives are then transformed into acetate prints, which serve as the base for her creations. Utilizing a variety of papers, including watercolor and handmade rug paper, she employs japanese washi and sponge brushes to achieve diverse effects and textures. The final pieces come to life through exposure to sunlight or UV light, resulting in ethereal /cyanotype compositions. She is eagerly preparing her first solo exhibition and a /cyanotype workshop at St Margaret House (Bethnal Green) this July. Additionally, she participates in the Backyard Market (Brick Lane) showcasing her unique artworks. Marina's dedication and artistic exploration are sure to propel her art into the hearts and minds of enthusiasts and collectors alike.
