Alex Monges travels personal memories relying on sketches and notes, which are transformed into unique prints using different printing processes. Adding the missing elements from the original sketches, the final prints aim to evoke the sensations and emotions that complete the image and feelings of the memory in question, often with a bit of humour. Monges graduated as an architect and is interested in the replicability yet uniqueness of a handmade print in that it echoes the re-telling of a memory or a story… and how it may change every time it is told and how it may change according the teller. Monges often exhibits with The Quaggy Printmakers, a diverse and inclusive collective that uses the Lewisham School of Art and Design Granville Park installations.
