Linocut

27 x 34 cm

Edition of 30

AJ Blustin's printmaking plays with forms, structures, flow, connections, rhythms, textures and effects of the light. He first worked for a few years as an astronomer, and continues through printmaking to seek out fundamental patterns behind the observed world. This present series of linocuts document the workings of light and shadow in the inhabitants of locations around London and East Anglia. Blustin learned printmaking on short courses at UAL and St Barnabas Press. He was awarded the Intaglio Printmakers Prize for printmaking technique and the Awagami Prize for best relief print at the Cambridge Original Printmakers Biennale (COP) in 2016 and 2018 respectively. Other group exhibitions have included the Eastern Open at King’s Lynn Arts Centre and the RA Summer Exhibition. His solo exhibitions have been at the Digby Gallery, Mercury Theatre, Colchester (2013) and the Pimlott Foundation, Great Horkesley (2021). Blustin's linocuts appear in The Cambridge Art Book (UIT/Green Books, 2017) and two printmaking publications from Mascot Media: Limited Edition and The Illustrated Garden, both 2018.
