Ellie Hayward is a London – based artist whose practice focuses on both sculpture and printmaking. She graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2020 with a BA in Fine Art, First Class Honours. Her work explores ideas around space and architecture, with a focus on liminal spaces. Within both the sculpture and prints there is a sense of a stage or scene being set where the sculptures/forms become characters within the space. Hayward uses print in a sculptural way. Over time her prints have become more sculptural and the sculptures behave more like drawings. It is this confused relationship and overlap between the two processes which interests her. Through working between both mediums she has explored the in-between space between 2D and 3D and it is the intersection between the two where she intends her work to be. Since graduating her work has been exhibited in a number of exhibitions, including the RA Summer Show and ‘The Factory Project,’ curated by Thorp Stavri. Most recently Ellie exhibited in The London Original Print Fair as part of the collective Verbatim in Somerset House. She has also received various awards, such as the House of Prints Award and most recently, ‘The Royal Society of Painter -Printmaker Prize’ at the 2022 RE International Print Fair.
