These Mokulito prints celebrate Sophie’s home town of Frome, Somerset and Cornish, coastal holidays. ‘Cheap Street’ portrays one of Frome’s idyllic, historic streets with a leat running down the centre. Here, independent shops and cafes can be found in abundance. ‘Cornish Harbour’ combines sketches from a variety of Cornish harbours and captures a feast of harbour shapes. Produced from first hand sketches and working in harmony with the natural wood grain, Sophie has then carved definition into the Mokulito images. Expressive and sensitive, these images rejoice in the painterly and textural qualities of this printmaking process. The celebration and preservation of local communities is vital.
