This abstract print series of a wave forms depicts seeing as vibrational energies from everyday life. The works interplay of cut away elements and bold color draw on light and shadow to create illusions of depth. These works embrace the paradox of looking and experiencing. Weiskopf often utilizes obfuscation and the viewer’s body movement as tool to experience her work. The wave patterns were hand drawn first, then made into polymer plate blocks, inked and printed to create embossments. Afterwards, prints were transformed into abstracted, low-relief objects through hand-cutting, scoring, and folding methods. The added drawing elements activate the original starting point of departure. Each work is one of a kind. Born in NY. Weiskopf graduated from the Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia PA with an MFA in Printmaking. She was finalist for the Rome Prize and has been awarded numerous fellowships and residencies. Weiskopf’s work is included in public and private collections.
