Tara Kelly

£0.00
Tara Kelly is an interdisciplinary artist, whose work spans film, painting, drawing, graphic design and print. Her subjects are often dreamlike and half-obscured; real subjects transfigured into the mythical and magical. She is interested in drawing as the site of imagination and transformation- her drawings tread the line between realism and the fantastical . She is influenced by catholic iconography, clowns, jokers, popular culture and the old masters. 'I stole because I couldn't think what to draw' is an assemblage of different women and creatures stolen from contemporary culture and other artists, put together in a playful dramatic scene. 'The Wrestlers' and 'Father' are gothic monotypes depicting half-formed human subjects. For Tara, the printmaking process and her experiments with woodblock, aquatint, and monotypes are a means to deconstruct painting process. This process involves the accretion of layers. Tara is a London based artist and designer. She studied at Oxford and then the Royal Drawing School. She works as a designer and artist across film and theatre.
