Michelle Avison
£0.00
Michelle Avison’s work explores the changing landscape, and the differences that come from looking at the same thing over and over again- shifts of time, of light, of weather.
By returning to the same place on the west coast of Scotland for many years, she is able to combine previous looking and observation of this landscape in new work which draws on all of that previous knowledge.
The Tide series was made over the course of a month in August 2022, and numbers over 150 prints. Each of the prints was made outside on the beach. The prints capture the sea at different times of day, in all weathers. They are an immediate and visceral record of a moment, of recurring moments, of the artist as conduit for the medium, manipulating chance and accident to create images through print. The prints are a look into the sea, of the movement and complexity of it, the repeating patterns in it.
Michelle Avison studied Fine Art at the Slade and Printmaking at Wimbledon School of Art. Michelle established SLAUGHTERHAUS Print Studio in 2010. She has work in public and private collections in the UK including Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Ashmolean Museum and etc Limited.
