From the series Anura

“Anura” explores frogs and toads as symbols of Earth's ancient origins, emerging from the dark, bubbling waters of the primordial sea. These works reflect on our fragile connection to nature and our shared beginnings, where chaos gives way to order, and myth and memory intertwine. The artworks are painted with acid-dye colours onto a screen using a wet-on-wet screen painting technique, allowing discrete areas to rise. The monotype is then printed onto silk satin fabric.

Dagmar Petersen's work explores our collective sensory and emotional encounters with the world, emphasizing universal themes that connect us. By painting directly on the screen, she creates work that plays with the boundaries of painting within print. Through a language of intuitive brushstrokes, Dagmar depicts collective figurative yet abstract motifs focusing on painting the feeling of them to speak to your senses and emotions.
