Unique Work

Kat Hassan's artwork delves into the realm of 'joie de vivre,' employing vibrant colours and expressive markmaking. By drawing inspiration from the ordinary, Hassan seamlessly blends her spontaneous illustrative style with experimental print and mixed media techniques, resulting in captivating visuals that evoke a profound sense of presence. Whether observing a life drawing model, plants, or animals, Hassan ventures beyond the surface to convey the unexpressed. A self-professed devotee of life drawing, Hassan's latest project involves the transformation of her extensive archive into imaginative prints using polymer etching, ink, and charcoal overlays. Employing techniques such as mono printing and etching, she infuses her creations with a spontaneous essence akin to her illustrations. Hassan earned her Master’s degree from Camberwell College of Arts in 2019 and received the prestigious Jealous Gallery and Print Studio Graduate Prize in 2020, resulting in her work being archived in a distinguished collection at the V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum). Her exhibition history includes showcases with esteemed institutions such as Jealous Gallery, Woolwich Print Fair, The Association of Illustrators, and The London Illustration Fair.
