The works of Fernando Martin Godoy (Zaragoza, Spain, 1975, lives and works in London) play with the limits between figuration and abstraction. Often monochromatic or close to black and white, they focus on the mystery that underlies everyday life and establish a game with the viewer's perception.
As a printmaker, he always tries to get the best out of each technique and his photopolymer prints are created from the idea that any type of image can be transferred onto a photopolymer plate. This freedom allows him to work with a mix of languages and materials. Various first hand-drawn ink stains on paper are scanned, assembled and modified with the help of a computer and then combined with purely digital parts. The photopolymer adds an extra layer of atmosphere and a velvety texture to the final result.
His dog works experiment with the minimalist concept of distillation, speaking about things with as few elements as possible. Here, geometry acts as a medium to transfer emotions.
