Christine Wylie | Conus II, 2018

£185.00

Etching

34 x 20 cm

Edition of 10

The artist lives and works between London and Edinburgh and is a professional member of the Society of Scottish Artists and a member of the Royal Scottish Academy and Visual Arts Scotland. Christine Wylie's art practice demonstrates systematic ways of working with mediums that explore line, form and space. The artist uses light and shade to create etchings based on geometric constructs, producing images that suggest presence and absence, space and non-space. The Conus series show images of unfurling paper cones that were photographed and processed using photopolymer etching plates, that enable her to achieve high quality intaglio prints with continuous tones of subtle greys and soft velvety blacks. Christine graduated from Edinburgh College of art with a BA (Hons) in Drawing and Painting, and a MFA (Distinction) in Art, Space and Nature. She has participated in residences from Slovenia to Chicago, initiated a collective artwork publication, as well as an academic publication from the Chinese Academy of the Arts, and works with international artists' societies. She exhibits regularly with the Royal Academy, the Royal Scottish Academy, the Society of Scottish Artists and Visual Arts Scotland, amongst others. She is a previous exhibitor at WCAF.
