Debbie Pea-Chian Lee’s art evolves from establishing a dialogue with the environment.  Submitted works consisted of two distinct series of parallel techniques.

The first series employs woodcuts with oil base ink to capture the mesmerizing interplay of light and texture within an old tunnel.  The undulating silhouettes, cast on dampened walls, dance with mystery and contemplation, evoking a sense of perpetual flux. Lee's abstract shapes, akin to pieces of a puzzle, resonate with specific associations, always imperfect yet inherently generative.

The second series intertwines intaglio, drypoint, and relief techniques with hand-pulled recycled paper pulp. Here, Lee conjures imagery reminiscent of vague memories—of seas, cities, rivers, and paths—some familiar, many forgotten. Laden with nostalgia for the past, confusion about the present, and anxiety for the future, these prints construct a private inner landscape. Through the juxtaposition of printed map symbols and paper pulp, Lee crafts a tapestry of textures and layers, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in her world.

Lee's journey into printmaking burgeoned during her pursuit of a Master of Architecture degree. Based in both Taipei, Taiwan, and Ithaca, NY, she has showcased her works extensively in Tokyo, Shanghai, Singapore, South Korea, and New York, garnering widespread acclaim. Notably, her print was selected for the main exhibition of the International Print Triennial 2024 in Krakow. In the previous years, She was the recipient to the Special Jury Prize for the International Biennial Print Exhibit ROC in 2022 and was a finalist for the "Trans-Pandemic" 4th JOGJA International Miniprint Biennale 2020 in Indonesia.

Her prints grace collections in esteemed private and public venues, including the Taiwan National Museum of Fine Arts and the Taipei Kuandu Museum of Fine Art.
