Susan is an Architect and Printmaker, based in Graphic Studio Dublin. She works in etching, aquatint and woodblock and her interest in both the built and natural environment draws on her training and experience as both an architect and a printmaker.
Her fine-art prints record urban, rural and coastal landscapes. Structures, buildings and the topography of a landscape, studied in the context of their immediate environment are all explored. Elements of a coastline, a hillside or a field, produce studies of lighthouses, towers, houses and built landmarks against a familiar and recognisable landscape. These unpeopled etchings speak of the marks made on the landscape over time by both the natural environment and those living in it and provoke a contemplation on this subject.
Recent exhibitions include the RHA & RUA Annual exhibitions, Kanreki in Dublin, Sligo and Nara, Japan, The Watercolour Society & Graphic Studio exhibitions and internationally in Europe, USA and Canada. National and international collections, include The National Library, OPW, NI Civil Service Collection, University of Limerick, Fingal County Council and many private collections. She has been supported by Fingal & DLR County Councils, Creative Ireland and The Arts Council of Ireland.
