My creative practice includes Painting, Printmaking, Photography and Public Art. I am interested in subverting ideas of representation, depiction, reproduction and documentation.
My work develops through working with both process and material. I collect forms or visual assets, focusing on particular subjects to produce distinct bodies of work. Chosen forms are used as silhouettes, often taken from photographs using perspective and camera position to influence the appearance of a familiar object. For example a single object photographed from several angles can be used to produce a number of stencil silhouettes and each of these can be repeated to create a surface or texture. These forms are used to construct images that question ideas of true representation and the transient moment.
Other processes for creating forms include recording GPS tracks and downloading or drawing existing patterns.
My printed works are produced using traditional non photographic screen print processes. Stencils are cut by computer before being applied to the screens using screen drawing fluid and screen filler. I also use other processes such as drawing with a plotter and pencil to produce the outline of a silhouette.
