Ellen’s work speaks to the sensitive among us. Those who experience intensely, who are
overcome by beauty, who are overwhelmed by the rush and loudness of our world, and who
wish to linger more fully in the present.
She expresses this sensitivity through the subject of the nude, specifically her own nude body. “Though I don’t see my images as self-portraits, but rather vessels for lived experience. Each pose is chosen carefully to communicate something about the interior world of the figure, whether it be vulnerability, deep presence, strength, or something else.” Inspiration is also taken from Greek and Roman black figure pottery, Japanese woodblock printmaking, and modern abstraction.
Ellen holds a BA in Art History and Italian from John Cabot University in Rome, and an MA in Contemporary Art from Christie’s Education.
Ellen’s work is shown by JoAnne Artman Gallery in California, Decorazon Gallery in Texas and Tom Cox Gallery in London. She is regularly featured at the Affordable Art Fair in both New York and London. In 2019 Ellen was selected as the official print artist of the New York Fair.
