Jing Wang Yantai.1998 / Lives and works in London Jing Wang’s work intuitively explores folklore and mythology, creating artworks on the border between story and poetry. Through the combination of drawing and oral narrative, archives, her practice challenges the historicity of folklore and evokes the moments when life and myth are entwined. Stonetell 2022-2023 series is structured as a living transition cycle whose objects are transformed into different narrative voices. In contrast to methods of allegory ideological purposes, like reinforcing customs and norms, Jing combines etching and aquatint techniques, monoprint and lithography to propose a expands the possibilities for imaginative readings of well-known narratives. Jing graduated from the Camberwell College of Art in 2022 with an MA in illustration.
