Sarah Praill sees the surface as a holding space for buried things. The sensation of the tool or materials and how marks are held within the surface is a driver. She likes to explore ways of embedding presence within a surface. Her process is a kind of archaeology of feeling and locating through the process of making. A mark feels like a letter in the landscape of encoded things. It’s an excavation of sorts. Sarah made these prints at Hausprint Studio, Stockwell. Images are carriers of thoughts and feelings. They evidence something beneath the verbal. The image is a stand in, it can talk back on our behalf. It can ask a question.  Sarah Praill exhibited in Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair in 2024. She regularly exhibits with the group Unprimed Collective. She will join the Turps Off site programme in September and was awarded an A-n Artist Bursary to study Fresco techniques in Sardinia.
