Rebecca Fielding is a fledgling artist living and working in Glasgow. She trained as an Art Historian and was particularly interested in the global story of creative practices. She began working at Glasgow Print Studio in 2021, which allowed her to engage in her creative practice in a way she hadn’t previously been afforded. Despite a love for drawing, painted, and fibre arts she had never been able to focus this creativity. After completing an etching course, she realised the beauty of the meticulous process, which requires a measured and contemplative approach. Her Art History background plays a huge part in her practice and sources of inspiration. She is able to drawer from a wealth of knowledge and is enthused by the idea of being a part of the human journey of creativity. She has enjoyed learning from early German artists who worked in etching, such as Martin Schongauer, and Albrecht Dürer. At the moment her practice is largely figurative, with fluid and unrefined elements that she feels reflect her personality and working style.
