Ashleigh May Thompson is an artist and printmaker based in London, England. Following a recent return to her craft after an extended period of hibernation, Thompson’s latest artworks are able to simultaneously exist on a smaller scale while encompassing much larger, universal ideas and ideals. Combining the artist’s longstanding exploration of grainy, natural surfaces and melancholic tones with a renewed interest in representational subject matter, these artworks speak to concerns that exist on parallel micro and macro planes. Their ghostly, monochromatic colouring suggests a suspension in time and place, a printed purgatory within which the viewer can immerse themselves and indulge in self-reflection.
