Anna Marris is an artist and researcher based between Portsmouth and London. Her practice is grounded in image-making in print and explores intersections of art, science, and ecology. Marris works between traditional printmaking and advancing technologies, creating abstracted landscapes that intertwine different perspectives, viewpoints, and timescales. Marris’ recent series of works investigates contemporary and traditional representations of an 803-year-old heritage site: Titchfield Abbey. She combines 3D scan data with experimental applications in printmaking, playing to both the liveliness in the fantastical nature of the site and the digitised experiences of new technologies. Marris works intricately with etching and aquatint to translate the textures of the eroding brick and stonework that make up the abbey, tapping into the architecture of the site to create an atmospheric representation of the ruin. In 2023, Marris graduated from MA Print at the Royal College of Art. Later that year, her work was shortlisted for Arts Thread’s Global Design Graduate Show. In 2024, Marris undertook a studio residency with Aspex Gallery in Portsmouth. She was also selected for ‘Ground Up’, an arts and ecology residency with GroundWork Gallery in Norfolk, which resulted in the group show ‘Ground Water’ held at the gallery in 2025.
