Lene Bennikes’ work explores the interaction of light and space in landscape and urban environments. By tapping into photopolymer gravure she transforms her own photographs into narratives by means of monoprint, chine collé, text, dremel and papers in a folded, stitched or knitted version. Often evolving around Mother earth, recycling, women and artist books. Bennikes’ body of work ‘A Tribute to Morandi’ (2025) is a series of monoprints observing the interplay of light and shadow on antique glass containers. A small colourful narrative of lush tones and texture reflecting the passage of time. Her artistic pursuit is based upon 18 years of close cooperation with Copenhagen printmaker artist, Bjarne Agerbo, Atelier Agerbo, the Graphic Experimentarium, Copenhagen, several artist residencies and ICP, International Center of Photography in NYC. She has exhibited widely since 1997 in independent shows and in larger juried, curated exhibitions in Denmark and abroad like the Rohsska Museum, Gothenburg 2006, International Print Triennial Society, Krakow 2012, the Luciano Benetton Collection 2015, International Artistbook Triennial Vilnius 2015, 2018 and 2024, and WCPF 2023 just to mention a few. Her work is in museums, institutional art collections and private collections. She holds a membership of the Danish Printmakers Association and the Danish Visual Artists Association.
