Rachel Smith
£0.00
Rachel is a self taught printmaker based in Somerset with roots firmly planted in Wales. Working through the medium of block relief printing she experiments with form and texture to convey depth and meaning to the things that surround her and the memories that travel with her through life. Rachel is inspired by her past and present, the people that have gone and the ones that are here right now. She is fascinated by how these things have shaped her and therefore shape us all. The small and the big things that give equal significance, the everyday to the unique and momentous, the things that are out of her control in contrast to the decisions she has consciously made. Things that are so personal to her as an individual yet shared as a common experience with everyone.
Much like life, once Rachel makes a cut in the material there is no going back. She works with what she’s got and learns from what she’s done. Printmaking to her is a truly immersive sensory experience.
