Nicola McInally

£0.00
Nicola McInally’s work contemplates motherhood, autobiography, and landscape. Memories and drawings form the basis of her prints. Morning Glow and With Me are based on the relief that Nicola sought and found after going through consecutive life changing experiences, including becoming a mother. During that time, walking along the Fife Coastal Path, observing the transience within the scenery provided a tonic to all these changes, offering some clarity and calm. The mediative quality of the ongoing sound of the sea is reflected through etched repeat patterns. This work delves into the layers of uncertainty felt during this period and how this was abated by developing routines and embracing this special time in her life. In recent work, Nicola combines painting on calligraphy rice paper, applied within the chine colle process, with her love of etching. Nicola McInally graduated from Gray’s School of Art in 2001 with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art. In 2019, Nicola received a Visual Artist and Craft Makers Award (VACMA) from Creative Scotland to explore etching techniques at Fife Dunfermline Printmakers Workshop. Nicola has exhibited across Scotland, including selected large group shows at the Royal Scottish Academy and Aberdeen Art Gallery. This is her first time exhibiting at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair.
