Jo de Pear
£0.00
Jo de Pear studied for her BA at Edinburgh College of Art and her MA in Printmaking at Chelsea College Of Art.
She prints between Artichoke and Bainbridge print studios in London
Her subject matter is taken directly from the spectacular flora, fauna and sea corals that she works directly from in Antigua, where she spends several months of the year working. Using the strong UV light of the Caribbean, her graphic cyanotypes are developed into silkscreen prints and woodcuts, often combining the latter two processes.
The large scale sea fan woodcuts were created to highlight the effects of rising sea temperatures, as more break away from host reefs due to global warming and extreme weather systems. Jo works on a voluntary basis for the Elkhorn Marine Conservation charity in Antigua, maintaining the coral nurseries.
Jo has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally, She was selected for the 2022/23 RA Summer Exhibitions and her work is also in The British Museum and the V&A prints and drawings collections.
