For A’Court, printmaking is a medium that brings materials, narrative and memory together.
Last year was spent completing an MA in Art & Material Histories at the City & Guilds Art School, where historical and philosophical research in to the material of paper was further explored in the silk screen studio. Happenstance discoveries through haptic practice are what drive the work, providing a continuum of inquiry.
Frequently overlooked, paper carries our narrative both public and private, that holds and binds the threads of our human narrative.
Studio practice is an ongoing engagement with the material and immaterial properties of paper: The notion of a palimpsest that entangles time, place and memory are considered.
Memories are reshaped in relation to new experiences as the work becomes a series of fluid interactions between visual language and materials. As the work evolves, further conversations develop and new narratives are offered up.
