Zoltan Marfy

£0.00

Zoltan’s practice investigates the phenomena of emptiness. His primary interest is making images that evoke the cinematic language of Film noir. His perception is constructed from speculating ubiquitous spaces, in which he forms a sensation of absence that creates an uncanny perception of presence on the verge of fading. In turn he initiates an atmospheric eerie impression, thereby structure decays into surface, consequently dislocating the image from the fabric of reality.

Zoltan experiments with photographic and textural sources, which he manipulates and produces through a physical process. He applies translucent substrates with the objective to conceal and obscure the definition of the primary image. He then transfers the imagery toward a printmaking process which in turn generates an undulating and unpredictable result.

Zoltan graduated from University of Arts in 2020 with a distinction in MA Fine Art. Zoltan is key holder at East London Printmakers and a visiting academic at Camberwell College of Arts. He has previously exhibited at the WCPF, along with various group shows throughout London and the south east. Zoltan started his creative career as a illustrator and designer until 10 years ago, when he attended a course on printmaking, then everything changed.
