Yimin Xiang

£0.00
Yimin Xiang is an artist and researcher currently pursuing a PhD at the Glasgow School of Art. His work delves into the convergence of historical and digital printmaking techniques within contemporary art. Fascinated by the ephemeral nature of memory, Yimin explores how printmaking can serve as a means of preserving and documenting fleeting experiences. His practice navigates the boundary between the digital and physical realms, translating digital imagery into tangible prints. This transformative process challenges conventional notions of authenticity and reproduction in the post-digital age. He investigates the materiality of prints and how they shape our understanding of archival materials, drawing on personal encounters with cultural heritage. His research provides insight into the changing significance of printmaking in the post-digital era, as well as its ability to generate innovative historical narratives.

Yimin began his training as an artist at the HIFA. He later completed a Master's degree in Printmaking from UAL and an MRes in Art & Humanities at RCA. His artistic output mainly consists of prints and photography, but also includes video/audio pieces and carved objects at times. Selected solo and group exhibitions include: "An Obscure Endeavour," Wuhan (Solo/2023), Radio International, Glasgow International (2024), Salon des Inclusion, Glasgow (2024), The IAPA Printmaking Biennale, Kunming (2022), "I Spoke to Them," London (2021), Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, London (2021), and the Summer Exhibition, London (2021).
