Tobias Till

£0.00

During his time as a student at the Royal Academy Schools and the Byam Shaw School of Art, Tobias Till’s primary focus was painting and drawing. It was not until a few years later that he made his first lino prints, which allowed him to explore his joint enthusiasms for composition and colour. Till’s principle subject matter is London. He aims to convey a feeling of place as an amalgamated experience with multiple viewpoints, combining expansive aerial views with ground-level images and other distorted perspectives. His technique allows the viewer to feel an overall sense of place, and engage with it on a more personal level.

Tobias Till’s new edition “Feast” is inspired by the language of finance. With so many popular phrases relating to foods and liquids, Till was inspired to create a visual, metaphorical ‘feast’, referencing this rich and varied linguistic library of expressions. Till’s use of lino carving combined with polymer plates has allowed him to work with an incredible level of fine detail, resulting in an intricately drawn composition, layered with bold colours and subtle textures, with phrases, puns, and well-known proverbs weaved throughout.

Tobias Till graduated from Royal Academy School in 1996, and has been exhibiting with TAG Fine Arts across the UK and USA since 2010. Till’s work has also been shown in notable exhibitions including at Portcullis House (2012), The Globe Theatre (2016), regularly at The Royal Society of Painter Printmakers.
