Julia Rodrigues is a Portuguese printmaker based in London, whose practice explores the intersection of traditional craft and contemporary environmental themes. Drawing on her heritage in Portuguese embroidery and ceramics, she employs techniques like drypoint and monotype to create layered, textural works that reflect on repetition, memory, and the natural world. Her ongoing Weather Series captures imagined landscapes shaped by climate change—storm-battered terrains and resilient ecosystems—rendered through etched lines that evoke erosion and permanence. By embracing process-led experimentation and “happy accidents,” Rodrigues invites viewers into a dialogue between fragility and adaptation. Rodrigues holds an MA in Printmaking from Camberwell College of Arts (2012) and a BA (Hons) in Fine Arts–Printmaking from the University of East London (2010).Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair (2018–2022) and Hastings Contemporary's A Generous Space (2022). In recognition of her work, she received the Thames-Side Print Studio Prize at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair in 2021. Her work is held in many private collections throughout Europe and the UK.
