Jenny Mason-Gunning

£0.00
Growing up in a world filled with ink, printmaking, and printing presses, thanks to her printmaker father and art teacher mother, printmaking is in Jenny's blood. At just 7 years old, she created her first aquatint etching, sparking her lifelong passion.

From childhood dreams of becoming a printmaker to making it her reality, creating plates and prints is intrinsic to Jenny. Driven by an irresistible compulsion to draw, make plates, and print, she captures the essence of places she explores. Her passion lies in recording megalithic monuments, historical sites, and abandoned industrial buildings reclaimed by nature. She perfects printmaking techniques to capture light and detail, believing the physical experience of being in these dramatic locations is crucial. She strives to convey this through her etchings and prints in all their forms.

Jenny showcases her work in her stunning Printmaking Gallery in Ironbridge, established in 1980. As a self-made printmaker at her family business, Ironbridge Fine Arts (@IronbridgeFineArts and @IronbridgePrintmakers on Instagram), she exhibits in UK printmaking exhibitions and competitions and proudly sponsors print fairs. She loves doing live printing demonstrations and takes on many commissions, creating plates and print editions for printmakers, galleries, and publishers.

In her self-designed studio in Ironbridge, Jenny uses Gunning Etching Presses, designed by her father in the 1970s and now crafted by her husband, Dave. They offer 12 models, including bespoke options. Jenny enjoys demonstrating inking techniques, setting press pressures, and sharing innovative inking methods and registration systems. She runs workshops for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced printmakers and teachers, equipping them with the skills and tools they need. Printmaking is her lifelong passion and journey. She is dedicated to making printmaking more accessible and environmentally friendly, and she absolutely loves creating her own work.
