Flavia Pinto explores and celebrates motherhood through monotypes, a painterly printmaking technique which produces one-off images. She takes inspiration from daily life to reflect on juxtaposing feelings within parenthood and recognises vulnerability and hardship as inextricable parts of that role.
The monotype process allows for a spontaneous handling of the paint before printing - yet there is very little room for corrections afterwards: every image is a plunge into the unknown.
