Have you ever considered the hold of bodily memory in the palm of your hand?

Enna Cheung’s work explores how skin, as a vessel of memory, reflects love and strength within her society.

Her recent series of “I See Your Strength”, first exhibited at PMQ, Hong Kong, was created during her six-month printmaking residency at Print Art Contemporary. Using Vaseline instead of soft-ground in etching, Enna invited participants to press their bonded bodies onto copper plates. Capturing the texture of skin and touch, the plates were etched and printed to preserve moments of closeness as permanent marks.

In some of her works, both sides of the plate capture the imprints of connecting bodies, serving as witnesses to fleeting moments of intimacy and as a testament to the strength within different intimate relationships.

Enna graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2023 with a BA in Fine Arts.

Her work has been auctioned in collaboration with Make It Work at De Sarthe Gallery. In 2023, During her printmaking residency at Masereel, Belgium, she explored traces of skin through intaglio techniques. One of her early works from this series was archived by the Masereel.
