David Stone
Artist Statement — David Stone David Stone print making explores the quiet power of objects- those that surround us, linger in memory, or spark unexpected emotions. He creates intaglio prints from original digital imagry that reflect on stillness, association, and the personal narratives that are embedded in the everyday. The prints—Chocolate Mould, It’s Not All About You, Arrowheads, and Delight in Everyday Things—draw from a variety of themes: speculative meaning, emotional attachment, memory, and the ways time recedes and reshapes our perceptions. Each piece begins with a digital image, which is transformed through the tactile, deliberate process of intaglio printing. This combination lends presence and gravity to subjects that might otherwise be overlooked. Whether familiar, mundane, strange, or even absurd, the objects he depicts carry a quiet resonance. They mark moments in time, becoming passive witnesses to experience. His intention is to isolate and elevate the ordinary—encouraging viewers to reconsider what these objects might mean, or have meant, in their own lives. Above all, his goal is to create work that invites reflection in a light-hearted and thoughtful way. David works out of his print studio in London and graduated in 1978 from St Martin’s School of Art in Painting, which is where, he first discuvered his love of print making. After a successful career in environmental community arts exhibiting at the Serpentine Gallery and the Whitechapel he has in recent years returned to the medium. His prints were exhibited at the Woolwich Print Fair in 2022 and 2023. Further information on his work copy this link into your web brouser < https://www.instagram.com/dave.stone >.
