Colette Lavette (b.1992) makes paintings that develop before the eye, biomorphic forms emerging from expressionistic mark-making. These works reference Rococo aesthetics in their compositions, reformulated in a contemporary painterly language. Lavette makes her own natural pigments, and sustainability, biological and geological history are at the core of her practice. Her work is in private collections in the UK, US, Europe and Asia and she has worked most recently with Gillian Jason Gallery, Purslane and Partnership Editions. Lavette made her first ever etchings and monoprints at Revue Print Studio in the spring of 2024.
