Bobbye Fermie’s practice responds to themes of personal boundaries, social anxiety and belonging. The works reflect on the boundaries between private and public space. As source material, I draw from cultural depictions of the home and interiors, spanning from pre-renaissance paintings to set designs. The works consist of intricately built layers of collage and painting, depicting a female figure within her surroundings. Fermie has been based in London since receiving a post-graduate degree from the Royal Drawing School in 2015 and a BA in Fine Arts from the Royal Academy of Antwerp in 2014. Recent exhibitions include a solo presentations,16 One-Act Plays at Wilder Gallery and at Skitsehandlen, Denmark. Bobby made woodcut and etching editions with Revue Studios in 2023.
