Alba Urquia

£0.00

Alba Urquia (Barcelona, 1997) graduated in MA Print from the Royal College of Art in 2023 and received her bachelor's from the University of the Arts London in 2019. Her work explores matters related to existentialism and identity, the absurd, and the human condition. In her practice, process and concept go hand in hand, for the making is as relevant as the finished piece. Lengthy processes serve her to shape ideas and repetition allows her to talk about the absurdity of our existence. Her work features a strong drawing element and photographic portraiture to articulate her narratives. Philosophers such as Camus or Sartre have a great influence on her work. Urquia has exhibited at ASC Gallery, Southwark Park Galleries, Maximillian Wölfgang Gallery and Fen Ditton Gallery among others. She has previously shown work at WCPF in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Her installation "A face that toils so close to stones...is already stone itself" was featured in the 'Printmaking Today' magazine in 2024.
