Shirley Zhou studied abroad in the UK from high school, where she was first introduced to and became interested in the subject of art. After years of study, she was admitted to the London College of Art in 2019 and started to study Illustration and Visual Communication. She was first introduced to printmaking during her Graduation course and used the technique to create a piece of work called loneliness, which was collected by the London College of Art and included in the school's gallery. She became interested in printmaking and began her postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Art Printmaking Department in 2023.
