Edition of 20

Barbara Viel's work approaches societal themes. Above all, it is about human dignity under attack by an elitist globalization which extracts from human beings and his environment only what is useful to it, rejecting what it cannot take advantage of, and this concerns both the planet and the living beings. In those recent lithographs, etchings and silk screens, Barbara explores human perception in this uncertain time, hesitating between a bygone past and a future whose outlines are barely visible, lost between apathy or fury, expectations or disillusion. She denounces a social regression advancing rapidly towards more inequalities in a large part of the world. She evokes the conflicts and the migrations which result from it, which will also be provoked shortly by climate change. And the water war that has already begun. Barbara Viel studied at the High School of Applied Arts of Sèvres in France, with a specialization in ceramics. Later she learned etching at the Miro Foundation in Mallorca. She has exhibited in numerous solo and groups shows in France, Japan, Spain, Portugal, UK. And has been selected in different Biennials and awards exhibitions such as the Ibero-american Biennial of Graphic Art of Caceres in Spain. And she won the Art Inca XIII award in 2022 in Mallorca.
