Photo Etching

53 x 45 cm

Edition of 30

These selected works are taken from different stages in Phillippa's career. One, still in progress is based on a dream she had in the pandemic and had a voice over and four images. Much of her work is in response to events around her though sometimes indirectly, but in her figurative work there is nearly always a narrative. Her work covers a variety of print techniques: the earliest being work from the 1980s before going onto printmaking at Wimbledon School of Art was photo etchings based on work she had drawn with a mouse on the computer - a Nimbus. When she did her printmaking MA she moved onto silk screen printing, using the distinctive patterns made by early printers, which has been incorporated into much of her work, both figurative and abstract. She has done a series of dystopia prints based on anarchic toys. These reflect the random nature of political events. She has also done a screen print series on climate change which are all one offs, combining layers with printing and drawing. She trained at Chelsea School of Art in mural design as a mature student followed by her printing MA. She has worked in various studios from Bow Arts in the East End to Thames Ditton and now works from home.
