Neil Mackinder is a silkscreen artist working out of a small studio in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.

Using a spontaneous, process led style, Neil creates small edition unique and playful prints. His printing style comes out of his love of photography and colour blending. Images are deconstructed, then reinterpreted in an intuitive loose manner. Bold colour blocking combined with delicate textures create unorthodox and experimental prints.

Neil has recently been perusing two parallel series of prints. Firstly, layering and reimagining photographic images with joyful unconventional colours. The prints are full of marks made through accidents, screen defects and the process itself, to subvert the traditional portrait. The second series explores what is possible with CMYK techniques. Experimenting with layer alignment and colour tone to create ghostly emotive images.

While trained in traditional silkscreen techniques, Neil is predominately intuitive and self-taught with his approach.
