Lucy Cooper creates screenprints which evoke memories of much-loved places, objects, or moments of reflection. She uses colour and composition to create art that is both uplifting and contemplative, exploring sometimes unexpected combinations of colour and pattern to reinterpret familiar sights and to stimulate viewers’ own personal memories and responses. The silkscreen process itself both informs and develops the work, encouraging her to strip back and simplify the subject and to focus on the interplay of colours, shapes and negative spaces.

Lucy Cooper’s work captures the feeling of possibility. Her subtly abstracted depictions of foreign landscapes or sunny interiors invite viewers to look outwards, presenting a scene full of promise.

Lucy has exhibited in a number of galleries and group exhibitions around the UK. In 2023 she was selected for a group exhibition at Watts Contemporary Gallery, and also showed at the ‘Small But Mighty’ exhibition at Bankside, the Bainbridge Open, the Sussex Contemporary. and ‘Sunscreen’ at Chalk Gallery in Lewes. She has also had work selected for the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair in both 2021 and 2022.
