Ann Edwards’ work is inspired by landscape. She plays with the interaction of colour, form and line to explore different landscapes and her experience of them.

Her monotypes are made by using 3 or 4 plates each inked with a different colour. These are then drawn into and some ink erased to create an image on each plate rather like a charcoal drawing. The print is made using an etching press, by layering the images one on top of another during the printing process. The unpredictable nature of the result echoes something of how changing light can transform a landscape.

These prints were made during the last year and have reference to the South West coast of England, being in Venice, and sailing.

She graduated from the University of Reading in 1980 with a BA in Fine Art. She lives in Bedfordshire.
