Olivia Müller’s current work revolves around the imagery of the Microsoft spelling error line, exploring how these error symbols change how we act within a digital space and how this can relate to our movements in a 3-dimensional architectural space. She makes both site-specific works and screen prints.
Her screen prints depict flattened versions of architectural structures, aiming to encourage the consideration of their aesthetic qualities outside of their function. They also aim to create a heightened awareness of the physical space around the work. In their installation, a red line demarcates the work and the space, playfully and almost comically drawing attention to both. This line aims to alter how viewers interact with the architecture in the space.
Müller is graduating with a BA in Intermedia from the University of Edinburgh this year. She has exhibited in “You Tell Me” in the Whitespace Gallery (2024), “Insight” at Dundas Street Gallery (2024), 4th Year exhibition “Ain’t nobody got time for that” at the University of Edinburgh (2024), “In Residence” at the Home Bar in Edinburgh (2024), “(Un)Familiarity” at the Unversity of Edinburgh (2023), 2nd Year exhibition ‘Mise-en-Scene’ at the University of Edinburgh (2022), The Gallery Societies’ Summer Show (2022) (supported by The University of Edinburgh, HEADACHE, thebox, The Hen Collective and Third Culture) and has worked as production designer for 2 short films supported by the Edinburgh Filmmaking Society (2021, 2022).
