Simon’s printmaking is driven by a fascination with processes, led by curiosity and playful experimentation. He works to develop unique approaches to etching which allow spontaneity and the element of chance to play a key role in the emergence of an image.
By using a very extended etching period, forms emerge slowly; this also results in highly sculptural, embossed final prints. Working intuitively, always sympathetic to the materials he uses, the resulting forms often have visual resonances with those found in the natural world.
Simon graduated from the University of Brighton in 2023 with a degree in Fine Art Printmaking. His degree show won the Award of Excellence from Nagoya University of the Arts.
