Nadia Magda Abatorab-Manikowska is a London-based artist whose work delves into the intricate themes of gender, identity, and embodiment. Growing up in Poland as a mixed-race woman of Arab-Berber and white descent, Nadia experienced firsthand the challenges of navigating a predominantly white society. These experiences profoundly shape her artistic practice, which seeks to challenge and redefine societal norms around gender and body image.

Nadia’s journey took a significant turn following the All-Poland Women's Strikes, which highlighted the ongoing struggle for women's rights in her home country. In search of a society that values women's independence and bodily autonomy, she relocated to the UK, where she completed her Master’s in Photography at the Royal College of Art. This academic background, coupled with her personal experiences, informs her deeply feminist practice.

Her work often employs a variety of mediums, including photography, Risography, and handmade frames, to create pieces that are both visually striking and thematically profound. Projects like "And so, I will blossom…" use Risography to explore ancestry, culture, and the concept of home.
Nadia’s practice is not only about creating art but also about fostering a deeper understanding of gender and identity. She often incorporates literature and theory into her work, drawing on feminist texts to enrich her exploration of these themes. Her workshops and public programs aim to connect mind and body, bringing the beauty of the temporality of life to the surface for participants.

Nadia's work is a testament to the resilience and strength of women and non-binary individuals, and she continues to push boundaries and provoke thought through her compelling and deeply personal artistic journey.
