Jane Colling’s work playfully explores word and image. Her printing work is almost entirely screen printed in a garden shed except for occasional detours into digital. Nature and word play are usually involved.

She is a founder member of the Bermondsey Artists Group, exhibiting her work mostly at the Café Gallery (now Southwark Park Galleries) since the 1980’s. Further back Jane made posters and visuals for friends Louise, Henry Cow + Ottawa Music Company, studied Fine Art at Reading University, worked as a printmaker and poster designer before getting drawn into the world of animation, aspects of which became the day job for many years while continuing to work on her own alliterative Alphabet of screen prints. She completed the Alphabet project AtoZ in 2012 and exhibited the series and a handmade book version at BookArtBookShop and Wolfson & Tay Gallery. She continues with alphabetical and other artistic meanderings…

Some Alphabet prints are submitted, also a more recent image created as an Artists Proof for a group show entitled RE in 2019. This print, Resolved, has now been editioned at Sonsoles studio. It refers back to a work made in the 1980’s which she always felt was unfinished.

Works have been collected by individuals over the years. Her Wand is part of the inaugural exhibition at the Museum of Pataphysics.
