Having spent time in Cornwall, Helsinki and now Cambridge, Hannah’s practice is about noticing the everyday and bringing a vibrancy and joy to these scenes. This everyday noticing ranges from overlooking natural or manmade scenes to focusing in on individual creatures and plants.

Hannah uses the process of printmaking to experiment with layering bold colours through reduction woodcut printing and silkscreen, enjoying how different colour combinations contrast create sometimes unexpected combinations.

The process of making itself can also form part of her work. For example, in some of her woodcut prints she has used more roughly sanded offcuts of wood, allowing the flaws and unique characteristics such as knots and existing uneven sections to impact the finished print. She is more recently experimenting with lithographic printing giving a different texture to her work using drawn rather than carved elements.

She hopes that her work brings a sense of colour, joy and life to the viewer.
